Transcultural literary education The “poetics of diversity” in literary didactic practice.

This book advocates a paradigm shift - from national to transcultural literary education. It teaches respect for the diversity of cultures and develops a "culture of multilingualism". In doing so, it makes a specifically aesthetic contribution to a world society based on solidarity.

“Transcultural literary education” expands the canon beyond German-language literature – by including national minorities, migration and contact zones with neighboring countries, as well as through a new concept of world literature that also takes into account the literatures of the “Third World.” Methodically, it enables learners to change perspectives and understand others.

The volume takes a critical stock of existing literature didactics and outlines the tasks and methods of transcultural literary education. Numerous examples and didactic digressions offer suggestions for teaching practice.
