The UN has dedicated the first decade of the new millennium to the "culture of peace". The starting point is the realization that it is not enough to condemn wars in general. We must also overcome the underlying "culture of violence" that keeps provoking wars. Education can play an important role in this. The aim of this book is to examine what "culture of peace" means for schools and especially for German lessons. What does language education contribute to understanding? How can the wealth of multilingualism be used? How can literature promote peace?
